GDX is a celebration of games and game development in Alberta. We bring the community together – game developers can network with industry professionals and showcase their work to the public; players can play new video games and board games, try out new hardware in the developer fair, compete in tournaments, and enjoy a program of panels and speakers. In order to support developers, GDX brings together game creators, computing scientists, artists, writers, musicians, producers, and business development talent. Our sponsors and supporters include Bioware, Microsoft, TEC Edmonton, Extra Life, GameCamp, MADSOFT Games, Ladies Learning Code, the University of Alberta, and more. The event is happening May 7-8 (starts 9:00am both days) this year on the MacEwan downtown campus in the Robbins Health Learning Centre.
GDX 2016 is hosted by the Video Game Art and Design Club at the Univeristy of Alberta (VGAD) and Walkthrough Entertainment. VGAD is the largest cross-section of U of A’s student-run video game community. Formed from those involved with GDX, Walkthrough Entertainment is a not-for-profit organization with a vision to grow the capacity for all types of game development in Alberta and to broaden the audience of games to encompass all Albertans. Together, our mission is to connect game developers, game players, and game lovers from across Alberta to foster community, entrepeneurship, and play.
